Sinister Squad

Sinister Squad is a 2016 movie released by The Asylum and is generally taken as a mockbuster of the and the ABC TV series Once Upon a Time.. The film replaces the villains in the mainstream movie with fairy tale characters and is a loose sequel to Avengers Grimm Plot Piper (Pied Piper of Hamelin) and Goldie (Goldilocks), arrange a meeting with Stiltskin (Rumpelstiltskin) in an attempt to stop his plan to reassemble a broken magic mirror. Alice (Alice's Adventures in Wonderland), along with her two aides Tweedledum and Tweedledee, assists in the capture of Stiltskin and they bring him back to their asylum. Other in the asylum residents included the Gelda the , Bluebeard, the Big Bad Wolf, Carabosse the witch, and Hatter (Mad Hatter). One of the villains kills Tweedledee. Piper and Gelda are able to influence others. As the heroes are undermanned, the squad is given a choice of freedom if they will fight Death and his messengers and retrieve the rest of the magic mirror or instant death. (The mirror was broken in the Avengers Grimm, although this is not directly referenced in this movie) Not all of the heroes find this plan to be a good idea as they do not trust the villains. Their fears prove justified when, for example, Carabosse breaks off from the group to hatch her own evil plan as she in enamored with Death. Gelda and Stiltskin were previously romantically involved, which further complicates matters. Death needs the mirror to escape the dimension where the heroes have imprisoned him. Most of the villains have plans to subvert the mission, with only the Big Bad Wolf agreeing wholeheartedly with the plan. Stiltskin kills Gelda after she discovers his deal with Death, which unknowingly causes her mind control of Bluebeard to end. A now freed Bluebeard attacks the Wolf, leaving him for dead and them kills Piper, freeing Caraboose. Kim Newman's site found the film worse that Suicide squad, stating that it has "porn-level production values and ranting, wild-eyed, overinsistent-even-in-this-context performances," and notes that the characters in the film often bear little resemblance to their story book origins, such as a gun toting Goldielocks. The Other View website found the idea of the banding together of worst villains in fairy tale history is a genius idea, the execution of this idea was done very poorly, resulting in a score of zero.
