LarryBoy

LarryBoy (or Larry-Boy) is a heroic metafictional character played by the fictional character Larry the Cucumber in the VeggieTales series. The character of Larry Boy is based loosely on Batman in early episodes and, later, adopts characteristics of Spider-Man as well. The character is an alter ego of Larry the Cucumber. Larry, fancying himself a superhero poses as LarryBoy, the defender of the town of Bumblyburg.

Dave And The Giant Pickle

LarryBoy made his first appearance in the VeggieTales episode Dave and the Giant Pickle in 1996 when he is not satisfied with being "plain old Larry". He eventually learns that he can continue to pretend to be Larry-Boy but that he should not be ashamed of who he really is.

==Larry-Boy! And the Fib from Outer Space!==

Later, VeggieTales released a Larry-Boy episode entitled Larry-Boy! And the Fib from Outer Space! in 1997. In this episode, Larry-Boy must save the town of Bumblyburg from a giant lie, which was created by the character Junior Asparagus.

Larry-Boy and the Rumor Weed

The episode was popular enough for Big Idea Productions, the creators of VeggieTales, to make a sequel entitled Larry-Boy and the Rumor Weed and was released in 1999. In this episode, Larry-Boy must save the town of Bumblyburg from a giant "Rumor Weed" which, of course, is spreading rumors about Bumblyburg's residents, which leads to misunderstandings and arguments (Spread by Junior asparagus, & Laura carrot.

The Cartoon Adventures of LarryBoy
Sales of Larry-Boy videos continued to climb, prompting Big Idea to make a separate series for Larry-Boy. Instead of using 3D animation, they used a 2D style of animation that looks similar to traditional animation.

===LarryBoy and the Angry Eyebrows!===
The first episode, LarryBoy and the Angry Eyebrows, briefly shows Larry working as the mild-mannered janitor at Bumblyburg's newspaper, The Daily Bumble, alongside editor-in-chief Bob the Tomato, cub reporter Junior Asparagus and a whole host of new veggie friends. (Interestingly, this series features Bob's only appearances in the LarryBoy universe.) Larry the Cucumber must put on his plungers and fly into action as super-villain Awful Alvin unleashes a swarm of Angry Eyebrows on this otherwise friendly hamlet.

LarryBoy - Leggo My Ego
In this second installment of the series, the Alchemist returns to Bumblyburg, along with his partner in crime and real-life mom, Mother Pearl. This crazed chemist has devised a diabolical plan to seize control of Bumblyburg and all its freedom-loving Veggie residents.

LarryBoy will need to discover that the root of the Alchemist's cunning chemistry is his own ego, and that building himself up by knocking others down is making Bumblyburg vulnerable to the Alchemist's distorted delusions. However, before he comes to this conclusion, LarryBoy must face his own super charged SuperEgo!

LarryBoy and the Bad Apple
In LarryBoy and The Bad Apple, LarryBoy, Alfred, Petunia, and Mayor Blueberry all have to fight the Bad Apple, a.k.a., Temptation. Each of the characters, even a super hero like Larry Boy, has a weakness. Alfred loves cartoons and Petunia loves video games. The Bad Apple tempts all the characters to do what they want while she attempts to take over Bumblyburg. Each one of the characters lets temptation in, and only with the help of those around them can they get back out again.

In this latest LarryBoy movie, LarryBoy and Bumblyburg have undergone several changes. LarryBoy's costume has been become more rounded on the belt and mask for a more dynamic feel. This time he takes some cues from Spider-Man in addition to his Batman like qualities. His suction cups are used to swing through the city and the cover of the movie shows LarryBoy in mid-swing with roof tops surrounding the edges similar to a Spider-Man 2 movie poster instead of with the LarryBoy/Batman signal used on the first two. He even delivers the line "With great chocolate comes great responsibility". To accommodate his new swinging, Bumblyburg was redesigned as a larger city with a higher skyline. This is also the first LarryBoy movie made since Big Idea updated their software for more action sequences and higher quality of animation.

This movie references Batman. At the end of story Bob comes out with a pot on his head and a purple mask with lightning on the pot. Larry asks, "Bob, what are you doing?" Bob replies, "I'm not Bob, I'm the Red Wonder... or Bobbin, but I'm leaning towards the Red Wonder." This is a reference to Robin And this movie is the first to be never released on VHS like the previous ones. It is only available on DVD and never on VHS.
