Simple Adblock is a new Ad blocker designed for Internet Explorer 6, 7 and 8. Simple Adblock allows users to remove ads from the webpages they visit. This is done in two ways: - Ad block: ads are prevented from being downloaded by the browser - Element hiding: ads are being hidden in the browser window The goal of Simple Adblock is to make an easy to use browser extension for Internet Explorer, which is as efficient and lightweight as Adblockplus, the most popular ad blocker developed for Firefox. Simple Adblock uses the same filter formats as Adblockplus, and the goal is that users of simple adblock can participate in the communities maintaining the filters for adblockplus, to have the most up-to-date filters available Simple Adblock is currently a Beta release Filters Simple Adblock uses the community based EasyList filters. There is a global filter assigned for all users, which blocks most adservers. For specific countries, there are local filters. The countries with specific targeted filters are: Bulgaria, China, France, Germany, Korea, Romania and Vietnam
