Simona Armstrong is a singer and actress who appeared as a contestant in the BBC talent show How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? Originally from Romania, she has previously lived in Glasgow and London, her current residence.
Armstrong was eliminated at the quarter-final stage on September 2, 2006 when judge Andrew Lloyd Webber decided to save fellow competitor Helena Blackman.
Her Romanian accent was a continual source of concern during the competition, forcing her to undertake additional vocal coaching. Upon her exit and before the show came off air, Lloyd Webber invited her to audition for the lead role in Evita. However she never took on this role as the production closed on 26th May 2007.
As an actress, she has had a role in the BBC TV drama Sinchronicity.
She has also appeared as a backing singer in an amateur production of Little Shop of Horrors at The Questors Theatre, Ealing (September 2005).
