Simon Moores , is Vice Chairman of policy development for the Conservative Technology Forum and Managing Director of Zentelligence(Research). Chairman of The Research Group Ltd between 1986 and 2001 (the company was sold in 1999) Moores was also the chair of the Microsoft UK corporate users group (The Microsoft Forums) and The Lotus User Group and Lotus Notes "groupware" Forums. Originally a part of Lotus Development (UK) Ltd. Moores is also the author of a book on Lotus Development's product evolution and strategy "Using Lotus 1-2-3 Release 3.0", published by Prentice Hall. Author of March of the Spiders, a 2005 report examining the digital challenge to the publishing industry and co-author of the Conservative Party's Digital Plan for Britain, he is a Director of the centre-right Open Market think tank Aediles and advises governments, business and the media on the evolution, development and application of Internet-related technologies and their impact on governance, security and social change. Moores was also a member of Prime Minister, Tony Blair's Cabinet Office unit that developed 'UK Online', first under e-Envoy, and former Cabinet Secretary, Alex Allen, (presently chair of the Joint Intelligence Committee) and subsequently Andrew Pinder, now chair of BECTA. Between 1999 and 2002 Moores worked with Sky News on the regular "Sky News Business Report, which focused on the personalities and products associated with the internet technology 'bubble'. He has also appeared on CNN, CNBC, the BBC and Bloomberg Television as a technology analyst. A former director of internet service providers, Worldscope Communications Ltd and Atlas Internet Ltd, Moores has been associated in the media with the expression "Digital Divide". An advisor and international "Technology Ambassador" "Office of the eEnvoy" in 2001 - 2002, Moores is presently a local government Conservative councillor for the Isle of Thanet in Kent and a member of the "Digital Economy Policy Group", advising Conservative members of the European Parliament and Westminster Shadow Cabinet. Working closely with law enforcement agencies as an expert on Internet and computer crime, he chairs the e-crime congress, IP Crime congress and the Tackling Organised Crime congress. He is also a director of aerial advertising and sky banner towing business Airads, a one-time runner-up for Computer Weekly's "IT Personality of the Year" and is a columnist for silicon.com and Pilot Magazine.
