Kendrick LaShone Holmes (born January 7, 1987), better known by his stage name, Shone Hyatt is an American rapper. Born and raised on the Southside of Chicago, Shone Hyatt grew up in the Wentworth Gardens Housing Projects. He and his four brothers were raised by a single mother with the help of their grandmother. His father, Kenneth Clark, had an abusive tendency toward his mother, and was in and out of his life due to drugs and alcohol. He found comfort and escape in rap music, and started writing lyrics at the age of 12 in his bedroom. Although shy and timid about his skills at first, Shone quickly overcame this obstacle and would spend countless hours hanging and rapping with friends. Shone Hyatt attended Sengstake High School where he was a star basketball player. He dreamed of playing for the NBA one day, but upon transferring to Harper High School, he was kicked off the team due to poor academics. Eventually he also dropped out of high school. Struggling to make something out of his life, Shone decided to take his interest in music more seriously. Shone started out with a rap group called SSP with his brother PA and best friend George “Snoop” Washington. However, the group fell apart when Shone’s best friend “Snoop” was killed. That was the moment he came to realize he had to make it out of the hood one way or another. Shone had been featured on the Recruited by the Streets Mixtape Series.
