Shkurte Sherbeti (1884-1912) was an Albanian patriot from the village of Valbon, Albania who died fighting Serbian invading forces in 1912. She was from an Malesori family who traditionally always fought invading forces. The Montenegrin commander Vesovic, ordered the burning of the village of Valbona. Shkurte Sherbeti, along with a few peasants, fought hundreds of Montenegrin forces for 12 hours. She was killed along with her brother Col Sherbeti, aged 14, and Halil Brahimi. Today there is a carved rock dedicated for her named "Guri i Shkurte Sherbeti". The remaining members of her family never subjected to Yugoslav or Serb rule, despite the borders.
