Shirley Jonetta Erwin McKellar (born October 5, 1947) is a current Democrat 2016 candidate from Texas's . Retired from the U.S. Army, Dr. McKellar spent 18 months in Iraq during the Iraq War. During which, she was injured and spent one year at Brooke Army Medical Center. She is a member of many civic & social organizations including the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, the American Business Women's Association, & National Black Leadership Initiative on Cancer. Since being on injured reserve from the military and now retired, Dr. McKellar host a weekly Radio Talk Show entitled, "A View From The Top" on BlogTalkRadio covering the latest topics locally and nationally. Elections Shirley McKellar has run unopposed in the 2012, 2014, & 2016 Democratic Primaries. Her General Election Republican opponent has been Incumbent Louie Gohmert.
