Amos Williams (born 1947) is an attorney from Detroit who in 2006, became the second African American nominated for Michigan State Attorney General by a major political party. Myron Wahls was the first black candidate when he ran for Michigan Attorney General as a Republican in 1974. A Democrat, Williams received 46% of votes cast (1,605,725 of 3,690,415) in a loss to incumbent Republican, Mike Cox in 2006. - Married to Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Carole F. Youngblood - Former Detroit Police Lieutenant - Former Sergeant with 101st Airborne Division (1967) - Works in a private law practice in downtown Detroit dealing mostly with Civil Rights (present) - One of twelve "Lawyers of the Year" recognized by Michigan Lawyers Weekly (2008)
