ShieldUI Suite is a web development UI suite for programmers developed and managed by ShieldUI of Seattle, USA. It is available as commercial and non-commercial software. The ShieldUI component Library offers Charts, Barcodes and QR components. Each component has a pure JavaScript implementation and is also available as wrappers for ASP.NET, ASP.NET MVC and Apache Wicket for JAVA . History The first version of ShieldUI Charting component was first released in May 2013. Shortly afterwards, server side wrappers were added, to allow usage of the component in different IDEs, such as Microsoft's Visual Studio and Java NetBeans. The first virsion of the software, ShieldUI Chart v1.0.4, included twelve different types of charts. Subsequent versions include a total of twenty two chart types. The latest package of the suite include one and two-dimensional barcodes as well. Usage The ShieldUI charting component is a data visualization component. It allows presentation of data in an easthetic way. In addition to this, it allows interactivity and exporting of data to an image, as well as printing. The requirement for interactivity is an importnant and well known prerequisite for today's data visualization requirements. In addition to this, according to Friedman (2008) the "main goal of data visualization is to communicate information clearly and effectively through graphical means". Adding further to the stack of requirements and use-case scenarios, charting applications nowadays have become increasingly a means of sharing data views, and creating and reports between collaborative teams and team members. External links and programmer reference The Code Project includes a sales application demo that uses ShieldUI Chart, called 'A sales dashboard ASP.NET application' written by David Johnson. Another implementation includes interpolation of data visualized through ShieldUI Chart, called 'Lagrange interpolation and data visualization in ASP.NET'. HTML5 Report Includes additional information about the company and the controls. Visual Studio Gallery Includes more information on the controls and chart types. StackOverflow Contains a forum tag for ShieldUI-related questions, where the community can post and answer questions about the controls.
