A Sheprador is a crossbred dog hybrid created by crossing the Australian Shepherd and the Labrador Retriever. Alternately, it can also be a crossbreed of any shepherd dog with a Labrador Retriever. This crossbreed may be a 50%/50% combination of two purebred dogs or a multi-generational crossbreed designer to elicit or amplify certain traits. Appearance and temperament The Sheprador as a dog breed can display a wide variety of appearance and does not have consistently predictable characteristics. The range of height and weight spans that of the two parent breeds, being anywhere from 18 to 25 inches tall and weighing anywhere from 40 lbs to 130 lbs. Most Shepradors will fall in the middle range and because of the Australian Shepherd metabolism will likely never get close to 130 lbs. Both parent breeds are very athletic and love to fetch and catch frisbees and this shows in the Sheprador as well. They are also very intelligent and learn tricks very quickly when trained using food as motivation. Shepradors tend to be very loyal and good with children and other animals.
