Pugapoo

The Pugapoo, sometimes referred to as a Pugoodle, is a hybrid that is bred by crossing a poodle and a pug.
Size and coat
Depending on the size of the parents, it can range in weight from 3 to 30 pounds. The Pugapoo's build can resemble that of either the poodle, or the very sturdy/boxy build of the pug. The coat can vary dramatically, having either the curly coat of a typical poodle, or the short hair of the standard pug, or anything in between. Shedding is minimal and the coat is typically non-allergen. A typical color for this breed is fawn, but can also be black, white, cream, or grey.
Intelligence and temperament
Because the pug is ranked 57th and the poodle is ranked 2nd on Stanley Coren's The Intelligence of Dogs, this hybrid breed tends to be very intelligent, but sometimes very willful. This dog does not typically bark as often as other small breed dogs, and has the playful personality of both breeds. For some that don't like the look of a pug, but love the personality, this is a great hybrid. The pug is known to be comedic and have very human-like characteristics, which makes this cross suitable for many people. Both breeds are friendly, love to be around people, and are good with children.
It would be beneficial for any potential owners to look at the Poodle and Pug web pages to learn more about both breeds to ensure a good fit within the home. Because this is a hybrid breed, the Pugapoo could have characteristics from either the pug or the poodle.
Health and living arrangements
Because this is a hybrid dog, no known ailments exist, however, it is thought that many health problems of both breeds are reduced in the cross and thus the dog will live longer with less medical problems. Pugapoos are usually indoor dogs that require little to no additional exercise. They are perfect for apartment living.
