Shelley Waggener

Shelley Renee' Waggener (born September 30)is an actress. She gained critical success for her role as "Sonya" in the award winning film Winter's Bone. She and her cast mates earned a nomination for "Best Ensemble Cast" in the 2010 Gotham Awards along with many others.
She has enjoyed a successful career in Film and TV working in a number of Hollywood productions, most notably in the Lifetime Television Series, "What Should You do?" in which she played a mother trying to escape an attack from a drug crazed woman. This role required her to do some stunt driving. She has also had roles in movies such as "Punch, Drunk, Love" and "Leprechaun 2". As well as a number of guest spots on TV shows, infomercials and TV commercials.
Early life
she was born in St. Joseph, MO but grew up just outside of Branson, MO in a small town called Reeds Spring. She considered herself "Bead and Buttered in Missouri". Her parent's owned a restaurant there called Pizza Corral in which she and her only sibling, a brother, worked. Upon graduating from Reeds Spring High School, she went on to Phoenix, AZ where she attended Plaza Three Academy for the Performing Arts. From there she moved out to Los Angeles to pursue her career in acting.
Philanthropy
She has participated in both the AVON walk for Breast Cancer and The Liver Walk for the Liver Foundation. She is also active in the Dove for Real Beauty campaign where she promotes positive body image for young women. She has also done a PSA for Meth Abuse.
Personal life
After living in Los Angeles for a number of years, Shelley returned to Missouri, but travels out west for work.
