Sheena Greitens

Sheena Elise Chestnut Greitens (born November 23, 1982) is an American academic and the wife of Eric Greitens, a Republican candidate for Governor in Missouri. She is a non-resident Senior Fellow at the Center for East Asia Policy Studies and an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Missouri (currently on leave).
Early life
Greitens was born and raised in Spokane, Washington to Tim and Janet Chestnut, both physicians. The oldest of four, with an adopted sister from South Korea, Greitens attended Ferris Highschool where she scored a 1530 on the SAT and was both a State of Washington and National Merit Scholar.
She attended Stanford University where she earned a bachelor's degree in political science while under the tutelage and mentorship of Bill Perry. She attended Oxford University in England as a Marshall Scholar where she received a master's of international relations followed by her doctorate from Harvard University in political science.
Career
Greitens is known for her work on East Asian studies especially non-democratic nations. She has previously held positions at the U.S. Department of State’s Policy Planning Staff, the International Institute for Strategic Studies, and Oxford University Press, and fellowships at the United States Institute of Peace, the University of Virginia’s Miller Center, and the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies at Harvard University.
Personal life
Sheena Greitens married Eric Greitens, a Rhodes Scholar and former Navy SEAL, in Spokane, Washington on August 7, 2011. She and Eric have one child, Joshua.
