Shaun Brown is a Virginia politician who has run twice for Congress. A self-described , she was a delegate for Bernie Sanders at the 2016 Democratic National Convention and, in her run for Congress that year, obtained 38.5 percent of the vote in Virginia's 2nd congressional district. In 2018, she ran as an independent but was removed from the ballot after some of her petition signatures were found to be invalid. In May 2019, a staffer for former Congressman Scott Taylor was indicted for fraud in connection to Brown's nomination petitions. Brown was sentenced to three years in federal prison. She plans to run for U.S. Congress again in 2020.
