ShareKitchen
ShareKitchen is a culinary community center operated in partnership with the City of Cathedral City and C.U.R.C. that offers a shared kitchen facility and kitchen incubator program in the Coachella Valley and serves Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, La Quinta, Indio, Coachella and several other surrounding areas in addition to the City of Cathedral City.
Mission
ShareKitchen is a charitable non-profit organization whose mission is the promotion and development of jobs in the food industry.
About ShareKitchen
ShareKitchen offers a test kitchen and workshop space where aspiring restaurateurs can learn how to develop their ideas into businesses and how to turn their recipes into menus through a series of seminars and one on one coaching sessions. The test kitchen and workshop also provide the space and tools necessary for product development and small batch production for local distribution. The fully licensed and insured commercial kitchen space is also available for rent by the hour to prepare for the Palm Springs Village Fest and the COD Alumni Street Fairs. Food artists and artisans, floral artists and food photographers are welcome and encouraged to make ShareKitchen their community.
ShareKitchen’s full service restaurant location allows for participants to showcase their talents by way of “pop-up dinners” where new restaurant concepts can be tested and refined before moving into the marketplace. This is an invaluable research tool allowing the entrepreneur to interact with the community and receive feedback.

A key component of ShareKitchen is a comprehensive business development program called a kitchen incubator which provides assistance to start-up and early-stage entrepreneurs with the goal of growing healthy, sustainable food related businesses. The National Business Incubation Association, NBIA, states that "Business incubators reduce the risk of small business failures. Historically, NBIA member incubators have reported that 87 percent of all firms that have graduated from their incubators are still in business." "Business Incubation Works"
At ShareKitchen, participants are guided by an industry specific board of advisors that oversees the development and growth of these businesses as they move from the ShareKitchen program into the community which insures successful transitions and continued sustainability.

Additional community offerings include educational sessions, hospitality training and special events. Guest chefs are a regular feature at ShareKitchen with a kitchen support team of ShareKitchen participants and students of local valley culinary programs. This provides the students with a wide range of culinary experiences in a real life setting and gives the community the opportunity to sample menus from other regions. Work Study programs are currently under development with both College of the Desert and the CSUSB Palm Desert Campus.
