Shaila Scott

Shaila Scott is a native New Yorker from Harlem with over 17 years of radio experience. She currently is one of the midday on-air radio personalities for WBLS 107.5 FM (http://www.wbls.com).
Early career
Shaila Scott graduated Buffalo State College with a B.A in radio and television in 1985. Immediately after graduation, she got her break in the radio industry as an on-air personality in Buffalo at WBLK for 4 years, followed by a 6 year stay at WBLS radio in New York. She joined 98.7 KISS FM in New York City in 1994 as the first hostess of love show Kissing After Dark and co-host to Jeff Foxx, Talent and Bob Slade of the 98.7 KISS FM morning show, The Wake Up Club for 5 years.
Shaila's charm and strong belief in God has taken her through a long and prosperous road in radio. She was born to proud Belizean parents in NYC. Harlem born and bred this proud Mom of 3 attended elementary schools in Harlem, moved on to Martin Luther King Jr. High School pledged Delta Sigma Theta Sorority & graduated from The State University College at Buffalo with a B.A. in Broadcasting. Shaila immediately began her professional career in Broadcasting before graduating, she started as an on air personality in Buffalo at WBLK where she was seasoned for 4 years, After a total of 10 years in professional radio Shaila joined the KISS FM family in 1994 and has been adding a sincere sister-friendly flavor ever since. She has spearheaded fundraising efforts for Breast Cancer Research by creating a “Kiss for the Cure”, an event heavily supported by the radio and music industry. She has been a spokesperson for AIDS awareness, contributed her time to Divabetic (a diabetes awareness group), participated in Teen Pregnancy forums, and lends a hand to various charities. Her “Sisterly Kiss” is not only a progressive thought she shares at the end of the broadcast day but it is an entertainment organization that raises funds for several causes. For example her “Sisterly Kiss Spa party” provides a day of pampering for victims of Domestic Violence just in time for Mothers Day. A woman of great character and substance, this former “Teen New York City” has been hailed by a consortium of organizations in the tri-state area who call her one of the most respected & positive influences in New York Radio; Being invited to the White House under the Obama administration is one of the highlights of her career along with being listed as one of the Outstanding Women in Radio, both WPIX television and the New York Post featured Shaila as one of the top five Radio Diva's in New York, One of the “Top 30 Radio Personalities in the Country” according to Upscale magazine and she has been featured in countless magazine and newspaper articles. Shaila has won the hearts of many as the first hostess of “Kissing After Dark” and the female co host of the 98.7 Kissfm morning show “The Wake Up Club” and now consider yourself lucky because you can tune into this diva in her #1 rated Midday Show 10am-3pm Monday - Friday on WBLS107.5
KISS FM Merges with WBLS
In 2012, KISS FM merged with their competing company WBLS 107.5. As a result, on-air personalities Lenny Green, Jeff Foxx and Shaila moved over to WBLS 107.5. Shaila became a mid-day host of "The Midday Café" weekdays from 10am to 3pm.

Emmis Buys WBLS
In 2014, the Indianapolis-based Emmis Communications bought New York radio stations WLIB 1190 AM and WBLS 107.5 FM for $131 million from YMF Media. WBLS became a cluster with WQHT HOT 97, also owned by Emmis Communications.
Additional Work
In 2007, Scott founded an organization designed to empower, educate, entertain and benefit women called Sisterly Kiss Entertainment LLC. Sisterly Kiss Entertainment is dedicated to philanthropy work aimed toward breast cancer, domestic violence and health and wellness. Sisterly Kiss Entertainment also hosts "Sisterly Kiss Spa " parties that provide a day of pampering for victims of domestic violence every Mother's Day. The Sisterly Kiss foundation is a nonprofit organization that advocates for breast cancer survivors. Through her valiant efforts to make women aware of breast cancer, Shaila was able to get support from the music and radio industry to fundraiser money through her foundation "Kiss the Cure" for Breast Cancer Research. Her efforts to empower women continue today.
Recognition
Shaila is recognized for her resilience in not only the radio industry but her philanthropic efforts as well. While at 98.7 KISS FM, she received the "Excellence in Radio Broadcast" Award and the "Phenomenal Woman" honors. In addition, WPIX television and the New York Post featured Shaila as one of the Top Five Radio Diva's in New York and Upscale magazine listed her as one of the "Top 30 Radio Personalities in the Country".
Along with her radio efforts, she has been recognized for her educational efforts as well. In 2007 she received the "Distinguished Alumnus Award" from the EOP program of State University College at Buffalo and had a day named in her honor (May 3, 2007) by the Mayor of the City of Buffalo. She has won the "Martin Luther King Community Service award", the "Belizean Association Extraordinary Woman of the Year" award and "Spingarn Medal" from the NAACP in 1993. Shaila has been a spokesperson for AIDS awareness, contributed her time to a diabetes awareness group called Divabetic, participated in teen pregnancy forums, and lends a hand to various charities. Her foundations and products have been endorsed by several companies such as Disney, Marshalls, BMW and Ambi.
