Dr. Shahzad A. Rizvi an Indian born but now a US Citizen, has emerged like a bright sun on the horizon of English Literature with the shining rays of fine qualities. He belongs to the scholarly and renowned family of Allama Fazl-E-Haq Khairabadi and great grandson of Muztar khairabadi, a great poet of Urdu. Dr. Rizvi is a handsome man of good personality, strong character and fine habits. His great qualities include intelligence, humility, gentleness, sympathy, kindness, reliability, nobility and learning. He is self-made person of dedication, competence, diligence, hardwork and great understanding. Dr. Rizvi was born in Gwalior ,M.P., India in1937. He is the elder son of Syed Yadgar Hussain Nashtar Khairabadi who was a poet and Syeda Sarfaraz Fatima Nashtar who was story writer of urdu. Dr. Rizvi is the brother of two brothers and four sisters. Brothers include Syed Irshad A. Rizvi who was Chemist and Artist, and Syed Zia Khairabadi who is poet. Dr. Rizvi'sisters are Syeda Naheed Nashtar(poetess), Dr.Syeda Suhela Nashtar(poetess), Dr. Syeda Imrana Nashtar (poetess), Rukhsana Waseem (Ex-President of Aligarh Alumani Association of Atlanta). He currently lives in Washington DC with his lovely and loving wife and daughter. A loving attitude among family members is a little thing but makes a big difference. That is why his home gives a foretaste of Paradise. Dr. Rizvi shines in his roles as son, brother, husband, and father. Career Dr. Rizvi was educated in India and United States with further summer study at Oxford University and University of Paris. Rizvi taught at the college level in India prior to 1964, and since then has taught at numerous colleges and universities in the Washington, D.C.area, including American University,and George Mason University, in the fields of Communication and International Communication. He has served as a White House interpreter, and has taught language and culture to State Department diplomats. Since 2000, Dr. Rizvi has served in a senior position in international affairs as a federal civil servant. Literary Works Dr. Rizvi is a great writer of East and West.Dr. He is an excellant fiction writer in English.He has published three novels (The Last Resident: The Love Story of a British Official and an Indian Princess; Behind the Veil; and Mayu: The Life of a Finnish Woman); two books of short stories (A Window in the Wall, and The Boy who Flew) and a poetry collection (Scattered Petals), with Kahany Publishers. Shahzad Rizvi was born and raised in a princely state in India. He now lives and works in the Washington area with his family. He enjoys travel, reading, and learning languages, but his greatest passion is storytelling.
