Shades of Pale was a post-punk and gothic rock band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They were formed in late 1985 by Peter Flessas, who played bass. The band also consisted of Dean Ireland on vocals, Stuart Bruce on guitar, and Mike Rodriguez on drums.
History
The band was formed in late 1985. They had four cassette releases before disbanding in 1988, including: *a self-titled release, *Garden of Clowns, *Dancing In A Shadow, and *Everything Under the Sun.
The band went through several different incarnations up until 1988, with Flessas eventually switching to lead vocals on the last two albums. "Personally, the first two cassette tapes were the best with Dean doing vocals," says Flessas (Peter Flessas, email to author, January 31, 2007).
Their very last show was performed at the Toad Cafe in August of 1988. Flessas is now an attorney in Milwaukee. Dean is a real estate agent in Arizona and one of the founders of Screwtape Records and part-time member of The Judy Green.
