Seema Jilani

Seema Jilani is a pediatrician and freelance journalist based in Texas. She has worked in a number of regions of the world affected by geopolitical instability, including Afghanistan, Israel, Gaza, the West Bank, Sudan, Lebanon, Egypt and the Balkans, and has been a freelance journalist for nine years. She writes for a number of newspapers, magazines, and websites, including The Guardian, The Independent, Newsweek, The Washington Post, The Huffington Post, and the New York Times.
In May 2013, she published a blog post on the Huffington Post entitled, "My Racist Encounter at the White House Correspondents' Dinner" in which she recounted the painful experience of being racially profiled at the heart of the establishment.
