Sebastian Alastair St. Cyr (pronounced Sanchere) Viscount Devlin was a fictional detective character created by historian-writer C. S. Harris. In the books, he is the third and only surviving son of Alastair St. Cyr, the Fifth Earl of Hendon, who served as Chancellor of the Exchequer in the Tory Government of Spencer Perceval.
An heir to an earldom, disillusioned Army officer, and a knight errant, he became entangled in several affairs involving high-standing families of the Regency England.
A master of disguises, Sebastian moves readily from the ballrooms of Mayfair to the squalid docks of the Thames and meets every character from King George III to lowliest of beggars.
