Season of Darkness

Season of Darkness is a six-song EP by the American rock band, Something Clever, the band's second EP overall that was released on March 17, 2015. The release was a follow-up to their 2012 debut EP "Walk Away" and the first to feature new band members Adam Nelson, Colt Crevar, and Brett Baker, while also marking the final appearance of drummer Dylan Roles.
History
Following the release of Walk Away in 2012, Something Clever underwent a lineup change that introduced Adam Nelson as lead vocalist, Colt Crevar on bass guitar, and Brett Baker on rhythm guitar. These changes contributed to a shift in the band's musical direction, incorporating a blend of post-grunge, metalcore, and alternative rock influences.
The recording process for Season of Darkness spanned from 2013 to early 2015, taking place at the band members home studios in and around the Charlotte and Mooresville area. The band self-produced the EP, maintaining creative control over its composition and sound.
On January 11, 2015 the band officially announced their new EP would be released on March 17, 2015 via their official social media pages.
While self-released, the EP managed to receive coverage from local radio stations and niche rock publications, which the band used to announce that Season of Darkness was the first issue of a subsequent full-length project that would be titled Season of Light, slated to release later in 2015 or sometime in 2016. However, Season of Light was not released until two years later on March 10, 2017.
Season of Darkness was the last project to feature Dylan Roles on drums, who departed the band shortly after its release and was replaced by Justin Tyme.
Singles
The EP featured two promotional singles released prior to its release, which were the singles "Freaks Like You" released on December 3, 2013 and "Best Laid Plans" that was released on June 1, 2014.
The song "Echoes" was not released as a single, however, it did gain viral attention on Soundcloud and ReverbNation prompting the band to shoot and release an official music video for it.
Promotion
Due to the band being unsigned and releasing the EP independently through Tunecore, promotion and marketing were limited. The release was promoted heavily by the band members on their private social media pages, and held an EP release party on the night it was released at the Tremont Music Hall nearby their hometown in Charlotte, North Carolina.
