Sean James Mackle (born April 10, 1988 in Lurgan) is a professional football player currently playing for Heart of Midlothian in the Scottish Premier League.
Mackle was born in to an Irish father and a Scottish mother, and so qualifies to represent three different countries internationally: Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. He is currently a member of the Scotland Under-19 side.
Mackle joined Hearts from the Lurgan youth system in 2005. His first involvement with the first team squad came when he was an unused substitute in a league match at Motherwell on 5 March 2007. He was subsequently awarded a revised 5-year contract later that week.
In 2007-08, Mackle joined Cowdenbeath on loan for a two-month period, to gain first-team experience. Making his debut in a 1-1 draw at home to Airdrie.
