Sean Cann (Born 12th October 1985 in Lincoln) is an English footballer currently playing for Lincoln United. Cann has also played for Grantham Town and Lincoln Moorlands. Career He was originally signed for Lincoln Moorlands at the age of 18 and amassed a total of 29 goals helping his club to a 4th place finish in the Northern Counties East Football League Division One also scoring the winning goal in the Wilkinson Sword Trophy final. After this successful spell in 2004-05 Cann was offered the chance to step up 3 levels in the football ladder to join Lincoln United who were playing in the Northern Premier League often referred as the Unibond League Premier Division for sponsorship reasons. Cann struggled with life playing 3 echelons higher than he had experienced before and his first season was hampered by injury. Ironically the injury came about whilst playing against former club Lincoln Moorlands. He only managed to register one league goal all season however once again he managed to score the winner in a cup final. This time it was against Brigg Town in Lincolnshire Senior Shield. During the next season Cann adapted better to the level he was playing at and managed to reach double figures despite making a lot of appearances from the substitutes bench. Grantham Town was the next port of call for Cann following a number of players including the likes of Stuart Reddington to The Meres. A successful season saw Cann score 14 goals playing in an unfamiliar position of left wing-back. The club were unfortunate to miss out on promotion losing out to Nantwich Town in the play offs of the Northern League Division One South. After starting the following season still with Grantham, Cann decided that it was time to move back to Lincoln and re-joined former club Lincoln United. It wasn't until mid December that Cann was registered to play but once he was he wasted no time in knocking in the goals, finishing with an incredible 23 goals in 26 matches. The club were unfortunate to miss out on the play-off's but Cann was named Supporters Players Of The Season and also picked up the Clubs Top Goalscorer Award emulating the likes of Gary Bull and Tony Simmons. Following the Season 2008/09 Cann attracted a lot of interest from several non-league clubs most notably Boston United however he opted to stay with his hometown club for whom he is currently top scorer.
