SCREEM (Site CReating and Editing EnvironMent), is both an HTML editor and XML editor for Linux and UNIX designed for use with the GNOME Desktop Environment. Rather than being a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor like Adobe Dreamweaver, it is designed to be a WYSIWYM (What You See Is What You Mean) editor enabling finer control over the HTML being created. It features previewing open documents in any installed web browser and a feature called "Intelliclose" which is a way of automatically closing HTML tags. SCREEM also supports Dreamweaver templates and has a good number of wizards to help with the addition of multimedia content. The project is no longer being actively developed as of 2005.
