Corporate History Scranton Manufacturing Corporation was founded in May of 1971 by John and his brother Bruce McLaughlin, with their friend, Robert Eason. Scranton Mfg. began as a farm equipment repair shop in a building on the main street of Scranton, Iowa. It wasn’t long before they began manufacturing innovative products for local farmers. Among these products was the world’s first mechanical hybrid Seed Corn Detasseler. These agricultural products were so successful that the company soon was selling its products nationwide. Scranton was on its way to becoming one of the nation’s largest manufacturers of livestock handling and feeding equipment. The company grew into a diversified line of innovative products in the recreational industry during the 1970s and 80s. Scranton Mfg. was the first to develop a pickup camper tag axle With changes brought about in the agricultural industry with a farm depression in the 80’s, the company purchased the New Way product line of garbage compactors/refuse trucks. Soon the vision was to improve and expand the New Way product line and build a network of dealers to reach every trade area in the United States and reach into Canada. New Way Trucks is still a family-owned company and one of the fastest growing refuse truck companies in America, producing 1,000+ refuse bodies annually. They have also established two joint ventures in , New Way China, with a combined annual production of over 2,000 trucks per year. Morals and Values Co-Founder and CEO, John H.
