Scout Stuart

Scout Stuart (born June 1, 1988) is an English screenwriter and film director from Manchester, England. Her debut feature screenplay Mud was developed under the the British Film Institute and Creative England’s iFeatures 3 Scheme. Throughout 2015, Stuart was on the BFI Flare Mentorship, where she was paired with Hong Khaou, director of Lilting (2014). Interviewed about the mentorship, she said, "I want to portray LGBT characters exploring issues beyond their sexual orientation, reflecting a wider sense that sexuality has to do with more than sexual desire."
Education
Stuart studied BA (Hons) Contemporary Film and Video at Manchester School of Art, graduating in 2012.
Film
As a screenwriter, Stuart's short films The Pig Child and Sliding have enjoyed festival selection at Edinburgh International Film Festival, Uppsala, Palm Springs International Festival of Short Films, Encounters, L.A Independent Film Festival and Underwire, where lead actress Catherine Steadman (The Pig Child) won a best actress award.
In 2015, Stuart was commissioned by Video Jam and experimental record label Slip Imprint, to make a 25-minute audio visual piece, Thus Spoke The Wulf, which was to be performed live in London, Liverpool, Leeds and Buenos Aires. The tour was supported by Arts Council England.
Leg, Arm, Head (2016) is her directing debut.
