Scott Haggerty

Scott Haggerty (born 1957 or 1958) is an American elected official in the State of California, who has served since 1996 as county supervisor for District 1 of the Alameda County Board of Supervisors. He is a Republican.
Political career
Haggerty was formerly a Fremont Planning Commissioner; he succeeded Ed Campbell, who was retiring, and has since run for re-election five times unopposed; in June 2019 he announced that he would not seek re-election.
Transportation boards and commissions
Since first being elected in 1996, Supervisor Haggerty has both chaired and been a member of a number of boards and commissions. He served as chair of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, the metropolitan planning organization for the nine-county Bay Area, from 2009 to 2011 and was elected to a second two-year term in March 2019. In this capacity he also oversees the Bay Area Toll Authority, the authority responsible for managing policies for toll bridges within the Bay Area. Signed by Governor Jerry Brown in 2017, AB 758 officially established the Tri-Valley-San Joaquin Valley Regional Rail Authority. Supervisor Haggerty currently serves as the authority’s chair and is one of the founders of the Authority. He is also a member of the San Joaquin Regional Rail Commission, a member and former chair of the Livermore-Amador Valley Transportation Authority, and a member of the Tri-Valley Transportation Council.
At the county level, Supervisor Haggerty represents District 1 of Alameda County on the Alameda County Transportation Commission.
Other boards and commissions
Nationally, Scott Haggerty represents Alameda County at the National Association of Counties, where he is Vice Chair of the Transportation Steering Committee, Commissioner with the League of California Cities Transportation Communication Public Works Policy Committee, and Commissioner with the Large Urban County Caucus.
Haggerty also represents Alameda County at the state-wide level on the California State Association of Counties Board of Directors; he serves on the board's executive committee.
Haggerty currently serves on the Association of Bay Area Governments, of which he is a former president, and in addition on the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, the Bay Area’s air quality regulatory agency.
East Bay Community Energy
In November 2019, East Bay Community Energy began supplying clean energy to Alameda County residents, three years after the Alameda County Board of Supervisors approved the agency’s establishment East Bay Community Energy is a clean-energy supplier that offers lower rates than traditional energy suppliers while simultaneously investing its earnings back into the community. Haggerty was responsible for securing the partners necessary for the formation of the clean energy supplier. After 8 months of operation, EBCE repaid its start up loan to the Alameda County Board of Supervisors, originally agreed upon in November 2016.<ref name=repay/>
