D. P. Sharma was born in a Brijbhasa speaking Brahmin family in Samona, Rajakhera, and Rajasthan, India. He received an M.C.A. & M.Tech. in Computer Application and IT from Rajasthan University and an Ph.D. in Informatics from Rajasthan University. He was among the first few people in the world to hold a master's degree in Computer Applications.
