Sandrembi Chaisra

Sanarembi Chaisra or Sandrembi Chaisra is a folktale associated with a myth element, of unjust oppression resulting to Triumphant. The tale is about an unlucky orphan girl, who was brought up by her jealous stepmother,in an unfortunate circumstances which are suddenly altered into a good fortune,i.e. she becomes the Queen of Kangleipak kingdom, wife of King Tukaoba ( in the mythological Haya Chak Age ).
The title characters are the daughters of the Court scholar Khulenganba, who had two wives, the Senior one, Sangkhureima, Sanarembi's mother and the junior one, Yaibireima, Chaisra's mother. Their father was a court scholar in the reign of King Sentreng Apanba in ancient Kangleipak.
Sandrembi's step sister named Chaisra, an ugly fellow, was extremely jealous of her beauty and glamour.
Legend
In the legend, Sanarembi transformed herself into many creatures, after she lost her human life, in order to return into the human world once more.

* Chaisra - The stepsister of Sandrembi, jealous of Sandrembi's beauty, glamour and charms.
* Khulenganba - Father of Sandrembi and Chaisra, Court minister of king Sentreng Apaanba.
* Sangkhureima - Mother of Sandrembi, eldest wife of Khulenganba.
* Yangkhureima - Stepmother of Sandrembi, mother of Chaisra, second wife of Khulenganba.
* Tukaoba - The king of Kangleipak, later husband of Sandrembi.
* Pangal Sajikloi - The Muslim man who was a gardener in the Royal garden.
* Sentreng Apaanba - The king of Kangleipak, during the good days of Sandrembi's father.

* An animation movie Sandrembi Chaisra, under Pupu's folktales is also released.

A radio play under All India Radio named "Sandrembi Chaisra" was also aired.

A daily comic strip named Sandrembi Chaisra (2019) was published under "Poknapham", a newspaper daily in Meetei language.
