Samurai Baby

Samurai Baby is a manga series by Wakatsuki Senju, it was published in year 2002.
Story
It is about two High School girls in Japan, Hanazono Mito and Tatsuda Seshiru, they have been friends since kindergarten. However Seshiru is the most popular girl in the school, she is always surrounded by the boys, even though she does not like it. Mito is a troublemaker, she always gets yelled at by the teachers and she also gets ignored by her classmates, well one day she has a fight with the most popular guy in the school and his fangirls try to attack her, but in that time a mysterious boys arrives and rescues her. The next day Mito finds out that he is the new transfer student. She tries to get close to him, but the fangirls are already crazy over him and he also got a girlfriend. But Mito still attempts to steal his heart.
Characters
Hanazono Mito
She always has troubles with the teachers, and the others always compare her with her childhood friend Tatsuda Seshiru, they do not realize how much they hurt her feelings. However Mito still tries to be strong and so she meets the new transfer student, Musashidzuka Touma. First she was not accpeted by him when she confessed but at the end they get together.
Musashidzuka Touma
He is the new transfer student, and he is really popular among the girls. In addition he is a pro in kendo, however he had to quit because he injured someone, after he meets Mito he changed his attitude towards kendo and he begins to do it again. He also got a girlfriend her name is Hana. In the manga Hana and Mitogroup fight over Touma, but Mito wins in the end.
Fujisaki Ran
Fujisaki Ran is also popular among the girls, he isreally aggressive, he used to be in the kendo club but he got kicked out because he had a fight with an upper classman. He is also a lonley person, his parents are always working, that is why he fools around with girls and his friends so much. First he wanted to confess to Tatsuda Seshiru, but he got disturbed by Mito. After that he thought that Mito had a crush on him because he disturbed his confession but then he he got yelled at by Mito, that he was idiot for thinking like that. During the story he begins to develop a crush on her, but he could not compete with Touma and he admits that Touma would be a better guy for Mito.
Tatsuda Seshiru
Seshiru is a really popular girl compared to Mito, she always stands out whatever she does. She likes her best friend Mito, however she knows she can not get close to her becaus of her popularity, she is always surrounded by her fanboys or other friends. She knows that Mito does not feel comfortable being left out and Seshiru tries her best to keep her friend Mito next to her, but Mito is always avoiding her. At the end of the story she gets together with the captain of the kendo club and she also gets closer with her childhood friend, so that she has a better understanding with her again.
