The Sammy Makki sports report is a New York based sports show which airs 7 days a week. The show is taped every night at 1:45am and is shown the following morning on YouTube and local sports stations. The show has gone anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour and five minutes since its debut on October 5, 2009.
STRUCTURE OF PROGRAM
The show goes on everyday with host Sammy Makki introducing the audience and giving the “rundown,” which is the order in which topics will be discussed. Starting in the baseball off-season, the show starts off with MLB Hot Stove news. The segment normally lasts about 8 minutes. The second segment is usually football with the exception of Mondays and Tuesdays. Discussions are about the upcoming week in the NFL or even breakdown of the previous week. The third segment is an NBA segment. This section of the show could also be called the “NBA picks segment.” There Sammy shows highlights of local basketball and of the game in which he predicted. He then gives his prediction for that nights game. The final segment is a mixture of hockey, and college sports. The “Play of the Day” wraps up the show every night.
MONDAY “MONEY” SHOW
The Monday “money” show is the show shown on Mondays that during football season is fully football oriented. It is thought that during baseball season, the Monday show will be fully baseball oriented. During that show, Sammy shows highlights of all meaningful NFL games concerning the Jets and Giants. There are some breaks for other sports highlights of the day. This show generally runs at least an hour, sometimes an hour and five minutes.
NON-FOOTBALL TUESDAY SHOW
On Tuesday’s edition of the show, there is absolutely no local football talk, as it’s thought that after an all-football Monday show, a break is needed from the sport other than highlights of the Monday night game. If the Monday night game happens to be the Jets or Giants, then the same routine of the Monday show would be used. During that instance, Sammy would show the highlights of the game, show reaction of the players and break down the game with his, as he classifies it, “bold opinions.”
SATURDAY PICKS SHOW
On Saturday’s edition of the show, Sammy, during the second segment of the show, gives his 6 picks for that week’s NFL games. The picks always include the Jets and Giants if those teams are playing that week and the top 4 games other than the Jets and Giants. The other four games are generally games in which both teams have winning records. The Jets and Giants can have any sort of record to be picked since they are the two local teams.
