Sameer Kevin Roy

Sameer Kevin Roy (born 1984) also known as “Sam” is an Indian film and theatre actor who is making his feature film debut in Bangalore’s first Hindi feature film Station. Having modeled for a few years, Sam’s acting talent was spotted by filmmaker Saad Khan at an acting workshop by Centerstage. Since then Sameer has concentrated on his acting and in 2011 he is portraying a cold-blooded assassin in Station. Since then Sam has gone on to act in independent film Joint Trip, plays such as Lights Out by Manjula Padmanabhan, and Ben Elton’s Gasping for the Deccan Herald Theater Festival Bangalore(2013), and The Sketches by Centerstage.
Early life and career
Sameer Kevin Roy was born in Porvorim, a small town in the Bardez district in Goa, where his late grandfather retired from the Indian Army and settled in 1981. Roy spent his first few years in Goa after that he joined his father, who was serving in the Indian Army and he grew up studying in Army Schools across the country.
In the 7th Grade he went to Lawrence School, Lovedale in Ooty, Tamil Nadu where he spent three years in boarding school. While in Lawrence he had the privilege to play the second lead in the musical Hello Dolly, directed by actor/director Salim Shah. In addition to that he was fortunate enough to watch many plays directed and performed by Naseeruddin Shah at Lawrence. Having watched Lawrence extensively he began to develop an interest which has frown with time.
He then decided to move to Bangalore to study advertising and graphic design.Leaving his course midway, Roy decided to start working and did so as a waiter in a restaurant in Bangalore. He then applied for a position in the airline industry and was successful, but after a couple of months, he turned to freelancing in advertising, until he was spotted at a coffee shop by Saad Khan and asked to try his hand at fashion.
To take the catwalk had been a lifelong ambition which he was now able to fulfill and so began a career in modeling. After a couple of years he moved to work for a retail store as store keeper. Tired of working in this industry, he went back to his first love which was acting and joined a Film Acting Workshop in Bangalore regularly conducted by Centerstage. Under the guidance of Filmmakers Saad Khan and Siddhanth K.S., They revived the actor in him. After completing the workshop, he was cast in Saad’s Station and is now working towards a career in full-time acting.
