Sam Brodie, also known as Sam Bettay (born 14 April 1987) is a half-Indonesian, half-Scottish pre-op transsexual from Irvine, North Ayrshire, Scotland. Sam entered the Big Brother house on Day 12 as a prize for Meal or No Meal. Davina revealed on the live programming that Sam prefers to be referred to as a female. Sam confessed to the housemates to being biologically male on the same night as entering the House, and said they could act however they wish. Sam speaks fluent Malay, Indonesian and French. Sam was born in Medan, Indonesia on the 14th April 1987 to his Indonesian-born parents. Sam grew up in Bandung till the age of eight where she attended BIS Bandung International School, where her first flair for Acting & Singing shone. She then attended JIS Jakarta International School before finally relocating with her parents to the UK. Career Sam Started her career back in 2002 at the age of fifteen working in Theatre/Acting and Performances in Glasgow's West End Stage, Sam made her Acting debut on stage playing a member of the Von Trapp Family in the re-make of The Sound of Music, the 2002 London revival:An Andrew Lloyd Webber production opened on November 15, 2006, at the London Palladium and continues to run as of May 2008, produced by Live Nation's David Ian and Jeremy Sams. Concluding to her first show in 2002, Sam continued onto to taking part in other plays such as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat which was another Andrew Lloyd Webber production performed in London August 2004 The story is based on the Biblical story of Joseph, found in the Book of Genesis. It is set in a frame story in which a narrator is telling a story to children, encouraging them to dream. She played a leading role in the King's private quarters as head slave. Sam filled up her school days by joining the local School Choir & Music Group & was always noticed for her individualism and her rare abilities and in-general depth of knowledge for such a young adolescent "A very intelligent & intriguing child that has the world at her oyster, She'll make something of herself" a former Music High-School teacher once stated. Sam then furthured her career by getting selected from 400,000 applicants for the reality show Big Brother series seven which was to be her first nationwide public appearance. She hit the UK TV screens, on May 12 2006 starring in Britains Biggest and most controversial Reality Show "Big Brother" of spring/summer 2006. She went on to appear in various TV Commercials making over 100,000 GBP Sterling and a lucrative modelling contract for Burberry Clothing Asia. The finale which Sam was part of for Big Brother 7 , was watched by up to 8.2 million viewers which makes Sam the first Indonesian Big Brother Reality Star to appear in a show costing more than 2,850,874,945,317.08 IDR Indonesian Rupiah. Since then she has been on many TV shows including "The Friday Night Project" with Justin-lee-Colins & Alan Carr with Celebrity Show-Host "Jerry Springer", and various Day-Time Television slots. She has also since appeared on several episodes of 8 Out Of 10 Cats, usually doing Big Brother comedy sketches, and has also appeared on Big Brother's Little Brother and Big Brother's Big Mouth Sam is currently back over in Asia to promote her status as the first Indonesian born celebrity to go International and have made a name for herself by participating in such shows as Big Brother, Never Mind the Buzzcocks to name but a few. Her current aim is to continue in the acting world by taking on Television Celebrity Guest Slots on Indonesian TV where available; to help promote her presence in Indonesia and land more presenting and film media work.
