S. V. Torke

Sadanand Vithob Torke (S.V.Torke) a bright man from Torke graduated with Honrs in BA during British India. His astuteness, dedication and honesty towards the work quickly took him to official cadre and went on to become secretary to Govt of Karnataka in Rural development department; He was nominated as secretary to KDCC bank Sirsi,Uttara kannada. by Govt of Karnataka to strengthen and develop the bank which was in shambles.In 1984 Govt of Karnataka recalled back Torke from retirement to serve as private secretary to State Govt Cabinet minister's due to his ardent administrative qualities.Torke Served as Private Secretary to Govt of Karnataka Cabinet Ministers, to name a few Mr.M.S. Katagi,during Chief Minister D. Devaraj Urs), and Mrs. Renuka Rajendran,during Chief Minister R. Gundu Rao. In 1986 he was made member of Karnataka Public Service Commission
Early life
Mr. Torke was born on March 26 1924 in the Torke village. He is the second son of Vithoba Venkanna Torke a Kannada Literary/ well known school teacher (Torke Master) and his mother Chandrabagi Subray Nayak was a home maker. He did his primary school in Torke,Bankikodla-Hanehalli and High school from Ankola.He was a merit scholar. He received BA (Honrs)from Karnataka University, Dharwar

Career
In the early years Torke served as BDO officer in Bijapur, Siddapura. In 1960 he was nominated as Secretary to KDCC Bank Sirsi Uttara Kannada to strengthen and develop finacials which was in shambles. During his tenure he opened branches in nook and corner of the Uttara Kannada to serve the people of the district and to strengthen the bank financials. During his time Bank celebrated its Golden Jubilee yearsthe chief guest was Governor of karnataka Horn. Dharmaveera He is considered one of the few pioneers in the KDCC bank's history who brought the bank from rags to riches. During the later years he held many different positions in Govt of Karnataka and mentored many Indian Administrative Service like Renuka Viswanathan, Muddahppa etc…

Even after the retirement,due to his adept administrative ability and honesty he was called back to serve as a Private secretary to Govt of Karnataka Cabinet Ministers , was made member of Karnataka Public Service Commission
