Rwita Dutta

Rwita Dutta (aka Rita Datta) is a film-scholar, film-maker, film-critic and academician. Her first documentary was premiered in Italy in 2006. She is now preparing for her second documentary. Her first short-fiction got the best film award in Hyderabad International Film Festival in 2008. She has assisted some eminent film makers for full-length feature films. At present she is writing the script for her first full-length feature film. She writes various articles on cinema for several national and international journals and also contributes for several publications on films & film studies. She is a member of the International Film Critics Association - FIPRESCI. She publishes an international film journal FILMBUFF as its Chief Editor. She is writing a book on 'Women in Indian Cinema'. She is a Professor and is completing her doctoral thesis (Ph.D) on 'City and Cinema'. She has been invited to many international film festivals worldwide to deliver lectures and to take part in several seminars and symposiums on cinema. She has served as the Jury Member in Osian's Cinefan Festival Delhi in 2006, Molodist International Film Festival Kiev Ukraine in 2007, Cairo International Film Festival in 2010, Busan International Film Festival Korea in 2011, Nepal International Indigenous Film Festival, Kathmandu, 2012 and in two very important sections of Cannes Film Festival 2013.

*Professor of Political Science. Also teaches Cinema and Film Studies.
*Started publishing the International Film Journal FILMBUFF as its Founder-Editor since November 2006.
*First Documentary "3RD WORLD" premiered at 8th International Festival of Film Societies, Matera, Italy: 12-17 June 2006.
*First Short Fiction "Wings of Desire" premiered and won the Best Film Award at 2nd Hyderabad International Film Festival: 03-10 Jan. 2008.
