Russian Pointe is a brand of ballet pointe shoe . The company is based in Chicago and its shoes are handmade by cobblers in Moscow, Russia. The company is known for shoes that come pre-arched, which helps reduce break-in time, extends the life of the shoe and is good for beginning dancers. Aleksandra Efimova founded the company in 1998, when she was a college junior. From 2006 to 2013, Ms. Efimova owned and operated Russian Pointe Dance Boutique, Russian Pointe's flagship store located on Chicago's Magnificent Mile. In 2010, she founded Growing Through Arts, a series of arts-based storybooks and learning materials for small children. She is also co-chair, with Piotr Galitzine, of the Moscow Committee of Chicago Sister Cities International. Russian Pointe has retailers throughout North America and offers training in pointe shoe fitting to its retailers, called Retail Affiliates.
