Runaway Dorothy is an alternative country band based in Brooklyn, New York. Their music has also been called Americana in addition to old-time. Along with original songs, the band performs many folk songs. They have been recording since 2006. History Early The origins of Runaway Dorothy can be traced back to 2006 as a no name side project of another band. At the time, Dave was a keyboardist in a band. It wasn’t until Dave met Ryan Adams, that he quit the band and pursued his own music. Musical style The band plays a wide variety of music, especially when they are busking in the New York City subway pulling influences from any of the many musical forms that would have been performed by musicians of the turn of the century to the nineteen-forties, including old time, bluegrass, country, and folk blues.
