Rsbot is the name of a program developed by a RuneScape botting gaming community of black hat programmers that successfully created an application capable of automating the repetitive tasks of playing RuneScape. The RSBot program was written in Java, and was being used as a platform for developers to host and run various 'bot' scripts that essentially played the game for the user. There were/are also other bots that had RSBot as base. How It Worked " downloads a copy of the RuneScape® game client from www.runescape.com just as would a legitimate player using a Web browser. Once downloaded the Bot software uses a process called reflection to examine the operation of the RuneScape® client, which is otherwise normally hidden from players. The Bot software then uses this information in conjunction with color sampling techniques to identify objects within RuneScape® that the Bot software wishes to interact with, such as trees, mining spots or monsters." Rsbot used bcel which gave everything in the game a id so it could find them. Nexus iBot uses reflection and it was rscheata.net that was sued for sub licensing not Rsbot. Significant Events Rsbot.org was shut down in February 2010 due to a lawsuit filed by Jagex. The RSBot creators are currently accused for Copyright Infringement, and were forced to remove the community website during the trial.. However, the community is planning on continued development of the project, as several temporary websites have been implemented in order to substitute for the lack of Rsbot.org. As the project is open-source, the likelihood of the program dying is quite low. .
