Roberts Pianos

Robers Pianos are piano retailers and restorers. They have shops in Oxford on and Portsmouth on Albert Road and a tuning and restoration service in London.

They predominantly deal with Steinway & Sons, Bechstein, Blüthner, Bösendorfer and Yamaha pianos amongst other good makes.

History
Roberts Pianos was founded in Portsmouth in 1983 and in Oxford in 1995 by Marcus Roberts BA (Mus), MPTA (b1951), whose grandfather was also a piano tuner and restorer and whose parents were both musicians and music teachers.

Marcus Roberts began tuning pianos in 1980. Since 1983 Roberts Pianos have had the contract for tuning Portsmouth Guildhall, and tuned and serviced concert pianos for the performers who played there, including Vladimir Ashkenazy, Alfred Brendel, John Lill, etc. The Portsmouth shop is now managed by Stephen Venn MPTA who has also taken over the Portsmouth Guildhall contract since Marcus' move to Oxford.

Since expanding to Oxford the company has grown, and now has over 10 full and part-time workers with over 100 pianos in stock. They also operate a piano removals service.
