Robbie Curran

Robbie Curran (born 21 January 1992) is a British actor, director and musician, known for his role as the naive but well-meaning Max in the 2011 thriller . Max is heavily comparable to the character of Piggy in Lord of the Flies, the novel upon which is widely considered to be based.
Early life
Curran was born in Barking, East London on the 21st January 1992 to Theresa, a psychotherapist, and Lawrence Curran, an IT specialist. During his early childhood, he travelled extensively due to his parent's work, living for periods of time in Chicago, Tel Aviv and Hong Kong. In 2007 he attended the National Youth Theatre.
Career
For much of his early career, Curran worked in fringe theatre. In 2010, he appeared as Fluellen in a production of Henry V with independent company Article 19. He followed this up in 2011 with an appearance as Dr. John Mendes in Pontypool with the company 3Bugs Fringe Theatre. The film is based on William Golding's Lord of the Flies, and Max is heavily infuenced from the character Piggy. Notably, Max is one of the only characters in Island based almost entirely on a character from Lord of the Flies, and is a role for which Curran has achieved minor note in mainstream British and American press.
In 2012, Curran returned to theatre, performing in productions of Thicker than Water, The Labotomy of Marco Leroux, and in Birmingham, where he is currently studying Drama and English Literature.<ref name = "Casting" />
