Ritch Esra

Ritch Esra is an American music business executive and presenter. He is best known as an A&R executive for Clive Davis at Arista Records, for presenting and moderating panels, and for MUBUTV (Music Business Television).
Career
Esra started his career in 1978 at Record World, one of the three main music industry trade magazines in the United States. He joined A&M Records in 1980, coordinating and promoting releases with radio stations, as well as overseeing product supply. There, he signed the Thompson Twins and worked with the songwriting and publishing staff for artists including Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick and Jermaine Jackson. He coordinated music for the Ghostbusters and Perfect soundtracks. In 2021, Esra began writing for "WithGuitars" magazine.
In 2012, he co-founded Music Business Television (MUBUTV), an online platform dedicated to producing educational content.
Music Business Registry
Since 1992, Esra compiles the Music Business Registry, a directory containing The A&R Registry, The Publisher Registry, The Music Business Attorney Registry, The Artist Managers Registry and The Film and Television Music Guide. The directory is updated every 8 weeks.
Panels and symposiums
Esra regularly speaks at music business panels and symposiums. He organized the Independent Music Conference in Los Angeles which was supported by BMI. Esra is often cited and referenced by peers in the music business.
