“Don’t Doubt Me”, the opening song on the anticipated release “Voices of the People”, sets off the mood for the debut album by Risen Tunes. With lyrics including a deep message expressing how the group feels, proving them selves to what critics may think the first time they pop in that CD and listen to what Risen Tunes has to say. Aside the opening track, Risen Tunes brings a lot of the fundamentals to the game. Tracks like “Bring it Back”, “Tha West Side Story” & “Boombox Legends” which involve catchy melodies and rhythms. And even the title track “Voices of the People”, the group brings a major amount of underground hip hop as they collaborate with artists such as Skribbal, Playdough, and even DJ Promote on the song. Risen Tunes brings a lot of different styles as well. Including R&B numbers such as the first single off the album “Better Dayz”, the second single “Always Here”, and even a collaboration with Sean C. Johnson on the heart felt praise song “Take Every Part of Me”, that ends the album with gladness and joy. Risen Tunes also goes a little bit harder with the bonus track “Don’t Doubt Me (Rock Remix)”. With real live instruments played by the group, Risen Tunes takes the song a step further with P.O.D. style melodies and screams. Risen Tunes attempts to express the message even more with these rock vibes. And with Bigger hits such as “Dreams Got Me”, Risen Tunes felt that the song was mandatory to be on the cut of the album to express the full meaning of dreams and goals in people’s lives, and how far they can really get you.
This album proves that Risen Tunes is neither religious nor trying to force people or convert them into becoming a Christian in any sort of way. Risen Tunes plans to do only of the following; spread the message of God’s word with music while gathering together and having fun doing it.
