Rise Above the Silver and Gold is a 2006 independent dramatic biographical film written and directed by Stanley V. Henson, Jr. in his directorial debut. Background The film was shot in Los Angeles, California, New York City, New York, Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. The project was shot in a reality film format, and based on true events in the life of Stanley V. Henson, Jr. as an African-American teen living with his single mother, and seeking a career in the record business. He becomes seduced to join an illuminati style music mogul's record label, and is asked to forsake his faith in God by the music mogul for fame and manipulated with the use of sex, money and the Hip hop lifestyle. The film was produced without a budget. Henson bartered with a variety of companies by using product placement as a means to produce the film. Cast Supermodel and actress Georgianna Robertson, best known for her appearance in Robert Altman's Ready to Wear, portrays Sydney Rivers, an entertainment attorney and wife of record mogul Darnell Rivers in her most controversial role yet. Football legend Joe Theismann appeared as himself, a friend of Rivers in the film. Gregory "Sugarbear" Elliott of the go-go group Experience Unlimited, and best known for the song Doin’ the Butt from the Spike Lee film School Daze, portrays the best friend of the character Stanley in the film. J.E. "BB Jay" Cooper, former BMG Records gospel rapper, portrays the character Bobby. Recognition
