Ring of the Dolphin

Ring Of The Dolphin is an album by the German cross-cultural new age band Cusco. It was released originally in 1989 as Ring der Delphine under the Prudence label, but was completely re-recorded in 1996 and released on Higher Octave as this album.
The liner notes contain a long story that traces the history of rings with dolphins on them, from antiquity to the construction of the Suez Canal, claiming to be from an upcoming novel which so far has not been released. Compared to other Cusco albums, Ring of the Dolphin is much more varied, and ranges in style from Celtic to almost Medieval, whilst conceptually focusing on the ancient Mediterranean.
This album contains the complete "Bur Said" (Port Said; pronounced "sa-EED") and "Djebel at Tarik" (now spelled with a leading 'D'), which were considerably shortened for the classic Water Stories release. There are a few minor instrumentation changes throughout the album, a certain percussive beat in the middle of "Waters of Cesme" has been removed for this version, and "Bur Said" has a bassier sound and some of the melodies in the final section have been removed so that the track fades back into solo guitar.
