Issues

What Rick Shriver has to say on:

Jobs

We can bring living wage manufacturing jobs back to Ohio. We must be creative and aggressive in competing in the global marketplace. Southeastern Ohio is great place to live, to work and to raise a family. Our workforce is second to none. Our quality of life is the highest. My experience in economic development in local government has equipped me with the tools to bring investment back to our region. I am confident that working with Governor Strickland, we can create new jobs while retaining existing jobs.

Education

“Fixing education” will not be easy. It’s been broken for a very long time. But I will work hard, alongside Governor Strickland, to assure that education spending is fair and equitable across Ohio. Every student deserves a quality education. The cost of higher education must be affordable for the average Ohioan. By investing in higher education now, we will help our local economy. Our children will get that important college education, and then come back home to open businesses of their own in the business-friendly environment that we create. Education is the key to Ohio’s economic recovery and our future., the Ohio Federation of Teachers, Teamsters Local Union Number 637, the Ohio Association of Public School Employees, the Ohio Farm Bureau, and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employes, Ohio Council 8.
