Richard Dever

Dr. Richard B. Dever is professor emeritus of Special Education at Indiana University.
He was born in 1934- in Quincy, Massachusetts.He received a MA, Classical Latin, Ph.D., Special Education; his PhD is from University of Wisconsin, 1968 with a thesis on "A comparison of the results of a revised version of Berko's test of morphology with the free speech of mentally retarded children" , which was published in Journal of Speech and Hearing Research, 15, 1, 169-78, Mar 72.
He is noted for his seminal work in community living for mentally challenged individuals. He has written and published three books on his work, and on teaching the English language, most notably, "Community Living Skills: A Taxonomy ", which was translated into French
