Ricardo Santos Silva is a Portuguese hedge fund manager, entrepreneur and investor. He is the co-founder of the private investment firm Aethel Partners, along with Aba Schubert.. Ricardo is the Chairman and CEO of Aethel Mining, largest private iron ore mine in Europe. Career Ricardo Santos Silva started his career in Espirito Santo Investment Bank (today Novo Banco). Later he joined the hedge fund Lyxor Asset Management where he became deputy president. In 2015, Ricardo and Aba acquired Banco Efisa in Portugal for 38 million euros and, in 2017 they made an unsuccessful €3.8 billion bid to buy Novo Banco. In 2020, Ricardo and Aba bought Torre de Moncorvo Mines from the Portuguese Government, after Rio Tinto dropped from a 1 billion euro project to develop the iron ore mines. In March 2022, Ricardo's investment firm Aethel Partners submitted a £2billion bid to buy Chelsea FC and promised to make £50m instantly available to the club .
