Rhys Paul Hovey

Rhys Paul Hovey is a Canadian artist producing work in several different mediums (mostly independently published) including books, video games, music, and voice acting. Hovey's most recognized and important works, including procedural artwork, exist primarily in video game format, such as his game Synth Video Game, which has received international recognition. Video Games Hovey's major work as an independent video games programmer/designer is Synth Video Game although Hovey has had a lengthly career in games with companies such as Electronic Arts, and Ubisoft. Another work of note is the NOISE AGE video game, which is a Q-BASIC adventure game, in which the characters from the "Noise Age" intellectual property are part of the game, the game has received little to no recognition. In an official press release Hovey states that "I and SYNTH video game were kicked out of the intel games contest 2009, in which Sid Meier and Will Wright were judges. They claimed I had unrelated material to the contest posted on my webpage, and gave me no chance to correct it" He also made public several e-mails from the Intel corporation, with names in tact, as well as mention about cyberterrorism and the FBI. Music Hovey as an independent musician, has had several independent/collage radio station, chart topping songs, including works such as "Epsilon" and "Ditty Getty". Much of Hovey's musical works are contained in other mediums such as hovey's Synth video game.. Hovey played bass guitar, and backup vocals for a period of time in critically acclaimed Canadian band "Karen Foster", which at that time was a published and contracted act of Sudden Death records (Sudden Death Records).. Hovey's work "Outside In" is notable as a co-production work with Canadian actress Kerri Michalica , who has taken minor roles in major motion pictures such as "Loser", and "Detroit Rock City". Hovey has written one novella entitled AdverCities. Which is a romantic comedy story primarily for teenage girls, where the characters in the book are covert street advertisements, or "live ads" as stated in the book. The book is currently freely available and public domain. A short indie film also exists staring Hovey, based on AdverCities. Voice Hovey's voice acting, has been featured in several independently released skits. These skits often use high tech audio production to mask Hovey's own voice to create the sound of several different characters. Works include, "The Question Store", and "Noise Age". Education Hovey graduated from University of New Brunswick in 2003 with a degree in Computer Science, majoring in Theory of Computation. Hovey studied for several months under Hollywood acting coach W. Morgan Sheppard, who has appeared in several blockbuster motion pictures.
