James A. Ball (Jim) is an accomplished music professional who participated in the making of some of the most memorable music of our time. Recognized for his work on many Grammy award-winning albums, Jim was awarded numerous gold and platinum albums by the Recording Industry Association of America. Jim started his career in 1978 at the Record Plant Studios NYC, the epicenter of the music business at the time. There he worked with John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Miles Davis, Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, Joan Jett, The Smithereens, The Go-Go’s, Stevie Nicks, Marshall Crenshaw and many others. While at the Record Plant, he also got to work extensively with many of the great technology and production personalities in the music business including Jack Douglas, Jimmy Iovine, Jay Messina, Thom Panunzio, David Hewitt, Roy Cicalla, Eddie Kramer, Richard Gottherer, Paul Prestopino and Paul O’Neill. When the music scene experienced a major shift, Jim traveled to Nashville and LA, working with major artists like Rosanne Cash, Joan Baez, and Willie Nelson. Jim’s international film and festival experience started in the Eighties with Super Rock in Japan, recording Bon Jovi, The Scorpions, White Snake, Michael Shankar and Anvil for video release. This led to several more trips to Japan for live and studio projects. Then on to Zimbabwe for the filming of ‘Global Carnival,’ a 60-minute HBO special with Harry Bellefonte, filmed at ‘Children on the Frontline,’ a two-day UNICEF concert featuring top African artists Miriam Makeba, Hugh Masekela and Youssou N’Dour. Throughout the Nineties, Jim worked extensively in Italy, France, Japan and Brazil. He has a working knowledge of Spanish, Italian and Portuguese After producing world-renowned Brazilian percussionist Marcos Suzano's solo project "Samba Town" in Rio De Janeiro, Jim and Marcos subsequently produced several other top Brazilian artists together, including Paulino Moska and Lennine. Jim is currently developing film and music projects in NYC.
